WHY USE DIGI-CHECK-IPA?

A traditional alcohol scale (densimeter) gives an erroneous measurement, because it is carried out by flotation. The “dirtier” the fount solution, the more the measurement by flotation (weight) will give a low alcohol level, far from reality. This measure therefore leads to an overdose of IPA. The hydrometer only measures the concentration of IPA in pure water.

In practice, dampening water is made up of several substances: H2O, Alcohol, Additive/Substitute, Ink, Paper, Detergents, Bactericides, etc.

Adding minerals from the paper changes the density of the dampening solution. The density indicated by the hydrometer no longer represents the concentration of alcohol in the water. To compensate for this variation in density, alcohol is added so that the densimeter indicates the desired value (example 10%). In reality, the alcohol concentration is brought to a higher level (around 18%).
